Concentrates 101: Diamond Caviar

What is Diamond Caviar?

Diamond Caviar also known as diamonds and sauce is our flagship extract. This concentrate comes from fresh frozen material and is extracted using light hydrocarbons. It is a highly potent and flavorful concentrate. Once extracted the thc crashed out causing crystallization. The THCA molecules group together forming these beautiful structures that resemble diamonds. Amongst the diamonds are pools of terpenes. These terpenes are what creates the unique flavor profile of the concentrate. The correct ratio of diamonds to sauce is crucial in making this premium concentrate.

Method of Use: Dabbing or Vaporizing

Optimal Dabbing Temperature: 500 – 530°F

What are Terpenes?

Terpenes are naturally occurring plant compounds responsible for the flavors and aromas found in cannabis. Not only do terpenes make marijuana taste and smell good, but they also contribute to the therapeutic effects associated with cannabis.

Terpenes are an essential component of the plant’s genetics and can be manipulated to produce new strains with unique aroma and flavor profiles. This has led to the development of a vast variety of strains, each with its own set of terpenes and potential effects.

Different combinations of terpenes and cannabinoids can alter the effects that an individual feels. This is called the “entourage” effect, which is a theory that explains how different cannabinoids and terpenes work together to create uniquely beneficial effects.

Understanding the importance of terpenes in the plant can help individuals select strains that may be better suited for their specific needs and preferences.

What are THCA Diamonds?

THCA is the natural, root form of THC. Once THC is reduced to its purest state, crystallization occurs, creating a substance favored by smokers who desire to experience a new potency level.

Unlike hash and other concentrates, THCA diamonds are not ready to be used in edibles or tinctures. The only thing separating THCA from THC is heat. THCA is the precursor to THC. Once THCA has been heated above 200°C it will decarbonate into THC. Making the preferable method of usage dabbing or vaporizing.

These THCA crystals (diamonds) are extracted using hydrocarbons. In order to achieve the larger size crystals, more time must be given to allow the crystal lattice to achieve its full potential. Pressure and surface area also play an important factor. Once the crystallization is complete we can fraction off the liquid terpenes from the crystals, or alternatively leave them separated. I.e (terp diamond and the liquid terpenes used in our famous caviar cartridge).

With close to 95% THC content, smokers favor diamonds due to their potency and medicinal properties. However, the flavorless substance is often preferred in a terpene-rich liquid, aka pairing incredible potency with equally stunning terpene profiles.
